All the participants had to play a scale, a piece chosen by the judges and a freestyle piece on their chosen instrument. The band had 3 winners, Justin (cub scout) who plays a tenor horn, Freya (scout) on the clarinet and Charlotte (scout) who plays a marimba. There were also 3 runner up places for Toby (scout) on drum, Phoebe (cub scout) on a bell lyre and Mollie (sea scout) who plays a cornet. The 3 judges were made up of a member of the Royal Marines Band, a former supreme marching band champion and the musical director of a champion band. The Bandmaster, Jane Bailey said she was extremely proud of them all and their commitment and hard work had paid off.

This year will see the bands first adventures abroad entering the World Marching Band Championships in Denmark which will include a performance an Brondby National Stadium and a parade through Copenhagen city centre. As a band we are also looking for sponsorship to help contribute towards the cost of this trip and are asking any local businesses if they wish to help in any way. The band have already organised some fundraising activities to help get them started.

We are an inclusive band with recruits from aged 6 and last year fielded both a junior and senior band for the first time during the competition season and are very active in the county too with appearances at steam rallies, parades and this year we are even playing at a wedding! We have members from all over the county including Daventry and Northampton and it is run entirely by volunteers.
